Day 1: Colombo (Arrival )– Kandy (by surface) (duration 2hr 30min)
Arrival at Colombo International Airport, after clearing the Immigration met by our representative and Proceed to Kandy. Check in at the hotel and proceed for a sightseeing tour of Kandy (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The Kandyan kingdom, the last bastion of the Sri Lankan political power against the colonial forces, is the home for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the site of one of the world’s most impressive annual festivals – the Esala Perahera. The Temple contains the most sacred relic of the Buddhists today and the most precious of Sinhalese pride. The upper storey houses the sacred relic and a library containing 800 year old palm leaf religious manuscripts. The Pooja (ceremonies of veneration) are held at dawn and dusk daily and these are moments when the Temple comes to life with pilgrims making offerings of flowers amidst clouds of incense and the beating of traditional ritual drums. Day 2:Kandy –Peradeniya( 10min)-Pinnawala ( duration30min) (by surface)
After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed for the tour of Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya. Home to over 4000 species of indigenous and foreign plants, the 60 hectare Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya comprise of many attractively tended sections including The Flower Garden, The Spice Garden, The Orchid House, The Lake, as well as a wonderful collection of bamboo and palms. After breakfast rest of the day is free at leisure. In the afternoon check out from the hotel and transfer to Colombo. Check in at the hotel then proceed for a sightseeing tour of Colombo. Colombo is the commercial capital and the largest city of Sri Lanka. It is a busy and a vibrant city with a mixture of modern and colonial forms. Due to its large harbour and its strategic position along the East-West sea trade routes, Colombo was known to ancient traders since thousands of years ago. It has been the capital of the island since the British colonial time. The city is home to a majority of Sri Lanka’s corporate offices, shopping and entertainment venues. Famous landmarks in Colombo include the Galle Face Green, the twin tower World Trade Centre, British time buildings in Colombo Fort, the Town Hall, Vihara Maha Devi Park, Gangarama Temple, the Independence Square, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. The modern shopping malls and specialty stores carry high quality goods at very affordable prices. Return back to the hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Colombo. Day 4: Colombo – Departure After Breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer to Colombo Airport for the departure. |
